Tom Felton Returns as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway
Tom Felton, the actor best known for portraying Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, is set to make a magical return—this time on stage. For the first time ever, a star from the original movie franchise will join the hit stage production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. Felton’s highly anticipated appearance is stirring excitement among fans who have grown up with the wizarding world.

Draco Malfoy Comes to Broadway
Felton will reprise his iconic role as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which has captivated audiences since its debut in London’s West End in 2016. The Broadway version, running at New York’s Lyric Theatre, will welcome Felton to the stage starting November 11, for a special 19-week limited engagement.
The play picks up 19 years after the original book series ends, following Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as they navigate parenthood and send their children to Hogwarts. It’s a powerful story of legacy, love, and the struggles of growing up in the shadow of a magical past.
“It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes — and of course his iconic platinum blond hair,” Felton said. “This is a full-circle moment for me.”
Why This Return Is a Big Deal
Tom Felton’s return to the Harry Potter universe is not just nostalgic—it’s historic. He becomes the first film actor to join the stage production, blending generations of fans in a unique theatrical moment. The announcement was made even more magical with a teaser video Felton posted on Instagram, where he reappears as Draco, wand in hand, with the chilling line: “Scared, Potter?”
Fans and producers alike are thrilled. Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, the Broadway show’s producers, called it a “cultural moment charged with nostalgia, evolution, and emotion.”
A Career Beyond the Wand
Felton’s return to Hogwarts is part of a diverse post-Potter career. Since wrapping the films in 2011, he’s starred in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, made his West End debut in 2:22 A Ghost Story, and published his heartfelt memoir Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard. He also took part in the emotional Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.
Now 37, Felton says this role marks a poetic alignment: “When I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play.”
Broadway’s Magical Legacy Continues
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has become the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, selling over 10 million tickets globally. The production continues to run in cities like London, Hamburg, and Tokyo, drawing in fans of all ages.
Felton’s casting is expected to elevate the show’s cultural impact even further. His presence bridges the cinematic and theatrical versions of the beloved franchise and brings new life to Draco Malfoy—once a schoolyard villain, now a complex adult navigating fatherhood and legacy.
When and How to Get Tickets
Fans can grab tickets starting June 12, with a special presale beginning June 10. Performances featuring Tom Felton run from November 11, 2025, for a limited 19-week season—a must-see event for Harry Potter lovers.
