Bafta-Winning Actors Join Cast of Upcoming Harry Potter TV Series
The wizarding world is set to return to our screens in a bold new way with the upcoming Harry Potter TV series, and the excitement just got real! HBO has announced several major cast members for this highly anticipated adaptation, and the list includes an impressive lineup of Bafta-winning and critically acclaimed actors.

A Magical Lineup of Talent for the Harry Potter TV Series
The new Harry Potter TV series cast is shaping up to bring fresh energy to J.K. Rowling’s beloved characters while staying true to the magic of the original books. Leading the charge is Ripley star Johnny Flynn, who will step into the shoes of the sinister Lucius Malfoy. Joining him is rising star Lox Pratt, known for Lord of the Flies, who will portray Draco Malfoy — the rival of Harry Potter at Hogwarts.
In an exciting twist, the Dursley family, Harry’s less-than-welcoming relatives, will be played by The Morning Show’s Bel Powley as Aunt Petunia and Bafta-winner Daniel Rigby as the grumpy Uncle Vernon. Rigby earned acclaim for his portrayal of comedian Eric Morecambe in Eric and Ernie.
Familiar Roles, Fresh Faces
Fans will also see The IT Crowd’s Katherine Parkinson as the warm and fiercely protective Molly Weasley. Previously played by Julie Walters, Parkinson brings a new layer to the motherly figure beloved by readers and viewers alike. Meanwhile, The Crown’s Bertie Carvel is set to appear as Cornelius Fudge, the often bumbling Minister for Magic.
A slew of young talent has also joined the Hogwarts lineup. Leo Earley is cast as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni will portray Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah takes on the role of Lavender Brown.
Returning to Hogwarts With a Star-Studded Cast
Earlier announcements have already created buzz, with John Lithgow cast as Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as the lovable Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as the complex and brooding Severus Snape. The trio playing Harry, Hermione, and Ron have also been confirmed, though full details on them are still under wraps.
HBO’s new Harry Potter series promises to offer a more detailed and faithful adaptation of the original books than the film series could, thanks to the long-form storytelling format of television.
When Will the Series Premiere?
The series is currently in development and is expected to hit screens in late 2026 or early 2027. Fans can look forward to a fresh take on the magical saga with more in-depth character development, deeper dives into plot lines, and a chance to see familiar stories unfold in new and unexpected ways.
